Hawks win home opener in three sets

Lucas Tran collected a team-high eight kills and two service aces to lead Rockhurst to a 3-0 win over Central State on Friday at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks took the first set, 25-16, and won the second set, 25-18. A kill by Wesley Yusk capped an 8-2 run to win the third set, 25-19.

Yusk recorded four blocks to lead Rockhurst. Nathan Jacques tallied 31 assists.

Ryan Collins (four), Will Sutphen (four) and Shay Spadaro (four) combined for 12 digs. Sutphen (six) and Yusk (six) also combined for 12 kills. 
 
The Hawks finished with 37 kills, four service aces, seven blocks, 33 assists and 20 digs. Rockhurst also collected a .342 hitting percentage.

Rockhurst (2-4) hosts Central State again on Saturday at 7 p.m.
