First-half run carries Hawks past Flyers

Jaylen Wesley scored 24 points to lead Rockhurst to a 96-68 victory over Lewis Thursday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks used a 24-4 run to go up 24-6 at the 13:44 mark in the first half. Rockhurst went on to take a 52-29 halftime lead and outscored the Flyers, 44-39, in the second half.

Drenin Dinkins scored 19 points with four rebounds, a team-high four steals and went 8-of-8 from the free-throw line. Jaden Flournoy tallied 16 points, four rebounds and two steals.

London Burton collected eight points. Jack Scott, Massi Malterer and Micah Deaver all scored six points each. Dillon Mong had four points and a team-high five rebounds.

Rockhurst shot 51.6 percent (32-of-62) from the field and 38.5 percent (10-of-26) from the three-point line. The Hawks also tallied 35 rebounds.
