Four-point play leads UIndy to narrow win over Hawks

A four-point play inside the final minute carried Indianapolis to an 89-87 victory over Rockhurst Saturday in Indianapolis.

The second half saw eight ties and 11 lead changes, with the last tie at 79-all with 50 seconds left after Jaylen Wesley made two free throws. Indy's Carmello Harris connected on a three-point field goal and free throw with 37 seconds left gave the Greyhounds an 83-79 lead.

Drenin Dinkins canned a three-point shot to pull the Hawks within one at 88-87 with six seconds left. Following a Rockhurst turnover, UIndy made a free throw with two seconds left to hold on for the two-point win.

Dinkins led all scorers with 28 points on 50 percent (4-of-8) shooting from the three-point line and connected on 12-of-12 from the free-throw line. Wesley scored 21 points and pulled down five rebounds. 

Jaden Flournoy had 13 points, four rebounds and two assists. Jack Scott scored eight points and added two rebounds.

The Hawks shot 48.2 percent (27-of-56) from the field and 45 percent (9-of-20) from the free-throw line. Rockhurst also collected 31 rebounds.
