Hawks win in three sets at Truman State

Sarah Pyle, Alyssa McDonald, Delaney Hope and Chloe Tyrrell combined for 40 kills to lead Rockhurst past Truman State in three sets Friday at the Truman State Tournament in Kirksville, Missouri.

Rockhurst won the first set, 25-19, and the second set, 25-21. The Hawks went on to take the third set, 25-16, after starting on a 14-4 run.

Pyle led the Hawks with 12 kills and 16 digs. McDonald tallied 11 kills and three blocks. Delaney Hope posted nine kills and a .467 hitting percentage. Chloe Tyrrell added eight kills and eight digs.

Molly Trachta collected a team-high 26 assists. Geme Ajekwu had four blocks. Mary Kate Mulvaney tallied 15 assists. Katie Vargo recorded 11 digs.

Rockhurst collected 51 kills, five service aces, seven blocks, 50 assists and 54 digs.

The Hawks (5-4) play two on Saturday to finish the Truman State Tournament, facing Missouri Western (8-2) at 11:30 a.m. and Upper Iowa (0-8) at 4:30 p.m.
