Early goal lead carries Hawks to 1-0 road win

The Rockhurst men's soccer team opened conference play with a 1-0 victory over McKendree Sunday in Lebanon, Illinois.

Blake Barrick scored his first goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 23rd minute. Franco Briani Brunoro made seven saves in goal, including five saves in the second half.

Rockhurst finished with nine shots, while McKendree posted 19 shots. Barrick, Immanuel Wayoro and Kaden Cripe led the Hawks with two shots apiece.

The Hawks (2-2, 1-0 GLVC) next play at Missouri-St. Louis Friday night.
