Hawks fall to San Bernardino in five sets

The Rockhurst women's volleyball team fell to Cal State San Bernardino in five sets on Thursday night at the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska.

In the fifth set, San Bernardino went on an 8-0 run to go up 10-2. The Coyotes went on to win the fifth set, 15-11.

Rockhurst won the first set, 25-17 and the fourth set, 25-20. San Bernardino won 25-18 in the second set and 25-17 in the third set.

Alyssa McDonald led the Hawks with 11 kills and six blocks. Sarah Pyle had 12 digs and nine blocks. 

Molly Trachta and Mary Kate Mulvaney combined for 34 assists. Katie Vargo led Rockhurst with 15 digs.

Rockhurst finished with 49 kills, five service aces, 12 blocks, 46 assists and 60 digs.

The Hawks (4-1) resume play at the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic on Friday when they take on Rollins at 5:30 CST.
