Laudando leads Hawks to 5-1 win at William Jewell

Michael Laudando drove in three runs and threw a complete-game three-hitter to lead Rockhurst to a 5-1 victory over William Jewell in the first game of a doubleheader Friday in Liberty, Missouri.

Laudando tied the game at 1-1 with an RBI single in the fourth. He gave the Hawks a 5-1 lead in the seventh with a two-run single. He struck out five and walked two in 7.0 innings.

Michael Novak collected an RBI single in the fourth and Patrick Wind hit a solo home run to right field in the seventh.

Jewell came back to win the second game, 3-1. The Cardinals scored all three of their runs in the third on four hits.

Landando gave the Hawks an early 1-0 lead with a home run to left field in the first inning. Dakota Hanna almost tied the game when he flied out to the left-field fence for the final out in the seventh.

Jackson Dearing held Jewell scoreless on three hits while striking out six over 3.2 innings.

Rockhurst (25-22, 15-16 GLVC) closes out the regular season at Jewell at 1 p.m. Saturday.
