Reilly garners GLVC Postgraduate Scholarship

Rockhurst volleyball student-athlete Maureen Reilly has earned the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference Postgraduate Scholarship, it was announced by the Conference office on Thursday.

The GLVC Postgraduate Scholarship is awarded to one male and one female each year in the amount of $2,500 each to be used in the first year of post-graduate enrollment at the institution of their choice.

Reilly, who has won GLVC Libero of the Year the last three seasons (2022-24), has applied to several institutions with the intention to enter a Physician Assistant graduate program. In her five-year career at Rockhurst, the Overland Park, Kansas native racked up numerous awards including Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Second Team All-American (2023), American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention All-American (2022-24), First Team All-GLVC (2022-24), Second Team All-GLVC (2021), and nine GLVC Defensive Player of the Week selections.

Reilly leaves the Hawks as the program's career digs leader with 2,697, along with pacing the GLVC in digs per set and total digs in 2022 (5.70, 587) and 2023 (5.78, 688). Rockhurst head volleyball coach Trent Jones raved about Reilly's interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively under pressure, strong moral compass, academic excellence, and selfless decision making.

In the classroom, Reilly finished with a perfect 4.0 GPA, earning her bachelor's degree in biochemistry and master's degree in business administration. She made the Rockhurst Dean's List seven times, as well as being named 2023 College Sport Communicators (CSC) Division II Volleyball Academic All-American of the Year, CSC First Team Academic All-American thrice (2022-24), GLVC Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year twice (2023-24), and Rockhurst's Taylor (Skala) Sares Female Student-Athlete of the Year for the 2023-24 season.

Her work outside of the classroom was equally impressive, volunteering for numerous organizations including KC Care Health Center, Tyler's House KC Fundraiser, KC Pet Project, Girls on the Run, Win for KC – Strong Girls, Children's Mercy, and serving as president of a service fraternity – Alpha Phi Omega. At a professional level, Reilly has held various positions at medical facilities since May 2022 such as pharmacy technician, certified nursing assistant, and medical assistant/scribe.

In order to qualify for consideration, the nominee must graduate by the end of the academic season – or by the end of the summer – of the application year, must have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 (on a 4.0 grading scale), have competed in a GLVC-sponsored sport for at least two years, and be a member of a team in the year the scholarship is awarded. Each league member may nominate one male and one female from their respective institution.
