Hawks collect pair of wins at home

The Rockhurst women's tennis team improved their record to 9-5 with weekend wins at home over McKendree and Baker.

The Hawks posted a 4-0 victory over McKendree on Saturday at the Overland Park Racquet Club. Ella Coleman, Sofia Valdespino and Zuzanna Szmyd won in singles play.

The Hawks picked up wins in No. 1 and No. 3 doubles over the Bearcats. Coleman and Dani Lentisco won No. 1 doubles by a 6-4 score. Baez and Valdespino captured No. 3 doubles, 6-4.

Coleman won her No. 1 singles match in two sets over Lena Greefs, 6-1 and 6-3. Valdespino went two sets in No. 2 singles, while Szmyd went three set in No. 3 singles.

On Sunday, the Hawks defeated Baker, 5-0. Lentisco, Maria Baez, Hana Bytyqi and Cecilia Ulrich won their singles matches.
