Laudando throws six-hit shutout on Senior Day

Senior right-hander Michael Laudando shut out 13th-ranked Lewis on six hits and struck out nine in Rockhurst's 2-0 victory over the Flyers in the first game of a Saturday doubleheader on Senior Day at Loyola Park.

Laudando retired the first nine hitters and only allowed three runners to advance past first base to improve his record to 6-3 on the season.

The Hawks scored both of their runs in the fourth inning. Senior catcher Patrick Wind doubled home the first run. Senior right fielder Matthew Brimacombe added an RBI infield single.

Brimacombe and Wind each had two hits as the Hawks finished with five hits.

Lewis came back to win the second game, 5-2. The Flyers scored once in the fourth and four times in the sixth to take a 5-0 lead.

Laudando hit a two-home run to left field in the sixth. Dakota Hanna doubled and scored on Laudando's home run.

Senior right-hander Jake Canent (5-3) allowed three runs on six hits and struck out six.

Rockhurst (22-21, 12-15 GLVC) will close out the Lewis series with a noon game on Sunday.
