Hawks pound out 14 hits in 10-5 win over Lewis

Patrick Wind and Michael Laudando hit home runs in the fifth inning to power Rockhurst to a 10-5 victory and a 3-1 series win over 13th-ranked Lewis Sunday at Loyola Park.

The Hawks scored five runs in the fifth. Wind put the Hawks in front 2-1 with a solo home run to left. Laudando also went deep to left on a three-run homer to give the Hawks a 6-1 lead.

Andrew Loeffelman drove in two runs with an RBI single in the fourth and an RBI triple in the eighth. Matthew Brimacombe posted three hits and two RBIs. Laudando added his fourth RBI with a single in the sixth.

Brendan Rodis (4-3) allowed five runs on eight hits over 6.0 innings. Freshman Trent Clemons held the Flyers over the final three innings with four strikeouts to collect his first college save.

Rockhurst (23-21, 13-15 GLVC) open a four-game series at William Jewell on Thursday in the final week of the regular season.
