Baseball drops road game at Lindenwood

Lindenwood jumped out to an early lead and held off a late Rockhurst rally to post a 14-5 victory over the Hawks Wednesday night in St. Charles, Missouri.

The Lions scored two runs in the first and three more in the third to take a 6-0 lead. The Hawks cut their deficit to 6-3 with an RBI single by Luke Scalf in the fourth and a long two-run home run to left-center by Drew Cornelison in the fifth.

Cornelison drove in his fourth run with a fielder's choice groundout in the seventh. Scalf scored on a passed ball to pull the Hawks within 8-5 in the eighth. The Lions added six runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Michael Laudando reached base four times on four walks, scored two runs and had one stolen base. Dakota Hanna walked three times, scored twice and stole two bases.

Freshman Trent Clemons allowed two runs on four hits and struck out three in 3.1 innings.

Rockhurst (20-20, 10-14 GLVC) were issued nine walks and posted with four hits. The Hawks open a four-game series with 13th-ranked Lewis on Friday night.
