Hawks claim series with 14-10 comeback win

Rockhurst rallied in the ninth inning to post a 14-10 win over Missouri-St. Louis Sunday in St. Louis to claim the weekend series, three games to one.

The Hawks scored six runs in the ninth to rally from a 10-8 deficit. Matthew Brimacombe tied the score with a two-run single. Michael Laudando singled home two runs to make it 12-10. Adonis Forte added a two-run home run.

Laudando led the Hawks with four hits, three runs and three RBI. Andrew Loeffelman posted three hits, one run and three RBI. Brimacombe collected two hits, three runs and three RBI. Forte added two hits, three runs and two RBI.

Rockhurst jumped out to a 6-3 lead in the second. Loeffelman had RBI singles in the first and second innings. The Hawks scored two runs behind five walks in the sixth to take an 8-3 lead before UMSL scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Jackson Dearing (2-3) held the Tritons scoreless on two hits over the final 3.2 innings with four strikeouts.

Rockhurst (19-16, 9-11 GLVC) travel to Illinois Springfield on Thursday.
