Hawks drop two games at Upper Iowa

The Rockhurst baseball team opened their four-game series at Upper Iowa with a 9-8 loss in Game One and an 11-1 loss in Game Two Friday in Fayette, Iowa.

The Hawks scored four runs in the sixth inning to take an 8-3 lead in the first game. Upper Iowa rallied to score two runs in the sixth and four in the seventh to take a 9-8 lead.

Peyton Clerk led the Hawks with three hits, three RBI and one stolen base. Clerk singled home a run in the second and had a two-run single in the sixth.

Adonis Forte drove in two runs with a single in the fifth. Matthew Brimacombe added a two-run single in the sixth.

In the second game, Upper Iowa scored four runs in the first and five in the fifth. The Peacocks outhit the Hawks, 16-2.

The Hawks (15-9, 5-5 GLVC) close out their trip to Upper Iowa with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon.
