Rockhurst falls short in series finale

Rockhurst came up short against Quincy by an 8-6 score in the final game of the four-game series Sunday at Loyola Park.

The Hawks stranded 18 runners. Rockhurst left the bases loaded in the first, third and ninth innings.

Quincy broke a 4-4 tie in the sixth and added three runs in the seventh to take an 8-4 lead.

Rockhurst cut their deficit in half with a solo home run by Adonis Forte in the seventh and a pinch-hit RBI single by Auggie Viles in the eighth.

Forte led Rockhurst with two hits, two RBI and one stolen base. Avery Garmon and Dakota Hanna each posted two hits.

The Hawks (15-7, 5-3 GLVC) travel to Upper Iowa for a four-game series next weekend.
