Baseball posts pair of 6-4 wins over Quincy

Strong pitching and timely hitting led Rockhurst to a pair of 6-4 wins over Quincy Saturday at Loyola Park.

Rockhurst scored three runs in the sixth to take a 6-3 lead in the first game. Michael Laudando homered to left to give the Hawks a 4-3 lead. Peyton Clerk added an RBI single and came around to score the final run on a passed ball.

Drew Cornelison hit a two-run home run to right-center in the fourth to put Rockhurst in front 3-2. Adonis Forte posted an RBI single in the third.

Jake Canent (4-1) allowed two earned runs on seven hits over 6.1 innings. Brandon Hebrank got the last two outs to get the save.

In the second game, Rockhurst scored four runs in the fifth and two runs in the sixth. Forte put the Hawks on the board with an RBI single in the fifth. Andrew Loeffelman singled home two runs in the sixth.  

Brendan Rodis (3-0) came out of the bullpen to get the win. Hebrank got the final out for his second save of the day and fourth save of the season.

The Hawks (15-6, 5-2 GLVC) wrap up the Quincy series at 1 p.m. Sunday.
