Rockhurst sweeps pair at McKendree

Rockhurst scored five early runs in Game Two as the Hawks completed a doubleheader sweep over McKendree with a 5-3 win Saturday in Lebanon, Illinois.

The Hawks (4-2) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double by Adonis Forte and a two-run home run by Andrew Loeffelman. Matthew Brimacombe posted a two-run single in the second to give Rockhurst a 5-0 lead.

Jake Canent (2-0) held the Bearcats to three runs on six hits while striking out six in 7.0 innings. Loeffelman led the Hawks with three hits.

Rockhurst scored six runs in the third inning on the way to an 11-1 win in the first game. Brimacombe and Laudando combined for five hits and seven RBI.

Laudando drove in four runs with a two-run single in the third and a two-run double in the fifth. Brimacombe added three RBI with a two-run single in the first and a run-scoring single in third.

Forte and Loeffelman each finished with two hits and one RBI. Cole Wagner and Austin Murray also drove in runs with base hits.

Laudando (2-0) allowed one run on three hits with four strikeouts in 5.0 innings. Landon Carr and Archer Nolen pitched the final two innings.

The Hawks (6-2) finish the short road trip with a doubleheader at Lincoln on Sunday afternoon.
