Hawks end first week with two wins at Lincoln

Rockhurst combined for 41 runs in sweeping a doubleheader at Lincoln on Sunday in Jefferson City, Missouri. The Hawks won the first game, 23-4, and posted an 18-1 win in the second game.

The Hawks scored five runs in the second inning and nine runs in the third to take a 15-1 lead in the first game. Rockhurst collected six extra-base hits among its 18 hits.

Michael Laudando led the Hawks with five RBI and two hits. He hit a two-run home run in the second and added a two-run single in the third.

Avery Garmon drove in three runs in the third with a solo home run and a two-run double. Patrick Wind hit a two-run homer in the fifth and Afton Koch homered with two runners on base in the sixth.

Gavyn Dockery (2-0) held Lincoln to one run on six hits with two strikeouts over 3.0 innings.

In the second game, Rockhurst scored 16 runs in the first five innings. Luke Scalf and Adonis Forte combined for seven hits and eight RBI.

Scalf posted four hits and five RBI, highlighted by a three-run homer in the fourth. Forte finished with three hits and three RBI.

Drew Cornelison hit a three-run home run in the first. Hoyt Bennett drove in two runs with a double and sacrifice fly.

Jackson Dearing (1-1) held Lincoln scoreless on one hit with three strikeouts over 2.0 innings.

The Hawks (8-2) travel to Florida this week before returning home to starting conference play against Drury on March 14.
