Daniel Carr posted 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead Rockhurst to an 81-73 victory over Illinois Springfield Saturday in Springfield, Illinois. With the win, Rockhurst clinched a spot as the No. 7 seed in next week's GLVC Men's Basketball Tournament.
Rockhurst took a 52-42 lead with 16:16 left before the Prairie Stars went on a 16-1 run to take a 58-53 lead at the 10:26 mark.
Moments later, the Hawks used a 14-4 run to retake the lead at 67-62 with 6:20 left after a Carr layup. Springfield closed the lead to two at 73-71 with 2:25 left, but the Hawks closed the game on an 8-1 run to complete the win.
Jaylen Wesley had 15 points, six rebounds and an assist. Nick Arensberg collected 13 points, three rebounds and two assists.
Jesse White recorded 10 points and two assists. Jaden Flournoy and Nico Felici both had nine points.
The Hawks shot 46 percent (29-of-63) from the floor and 31.8 percent (7-of-22) from three. Rockhurst also collected 12 assists.
