Pittsburg State collected seven extra-base hits in posting an 11-5 victory over Rockhurst Wednesday at the Urban Youth Academy in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Gorillas (10-1) scored five runs in the second inning capped by a two-run triple. Pitt State hit a pair of two-run home runs in the seventh and ninth innings.

After falling behind 6-1 in the second, the Hawks scored two runs in the fourth and one in the sixth to cut PSU's lead to 7-4.

Andrew Loeffelman led the Hawks with three hits and two runs scored. Avery Garmon tallied two hits as the Hawks finshed with 10 hits.

Drew Cornelison hit a solo home run in the second. Cole Wagner drove in two runs with a single in the fourth and a sacrifice fly in the sixth. Austin Murray and Kaden Jeffries added sacrifice flies in the fourth and eighth.

Rockhurst's pitching staff struck out 14 Pitt State hitters. Jack Miller, Garrison Mertz, Landon Carr and Jackson Lecluyse combined for eight strikeouts in the final five innings.

The Hawks (3-2) play a three-game series at McKendree on Friday and Saturday, and close the weekend with a doubleheader at Lincoln on Sunday.
