Hawks fall behind early in loss to Drury

The Rockhurst men's basketball team fell 81-69 to Drury on Thursday in Springfield, Missouri.

The Hawks trailed early before a 9-0 run put Drury up 22-11 at the 12:38 mark. The Panthers went on to take a 49-31 halftime lead.

Rockhurst outscored Drury, 38-32, in the second half. Brian Hawthorne, Jaylen Wesley and Jesse White combined for 28 points after halftime.

Three Hawks finished in double figures in points, including Wesley (18), Hawthorne (17) and White (15). Wesley added seven rebounds and four steals. Hawthorne collected three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Daniel Carr led Rockhurst with nine rebounds, in addition to scoring six points.

The Hawks shot 41.7 percent (25-of-60) from the floor and 27.6 percent (8-of-29) from three. Rockhurst shot 78.6 percent (11-of-14) from the free-throw line.
