Hawks fall to McKendree in double overtime

McKendree used a 10-2 run in the second overtime to post a 95-85 victory over Rockhurst Monday night in Lebanon, Illinois.

Drenin Dinkins made a three-point shot to give the Hawks a 78-75 lead at the 1:53 mark in the first overtime. McKendree made a three-point basket with 1.9 seconds left to force double overtime.

McKendree tied the game at 73-all with 1:02 left in regulation. Jaden Flournoy and Drenin Dinkins both finished with 10 second-half points.

The Hawks closed the first half on a 16-5 run to go into halftime down 36-35 after the Bearcats took a 31-19 lead. Jaylen Wesley, Peyton Newbern and Dinkins combined for 11 of the 16 points during the run.

Dinkins led Rockhurst with 21 points, three assists and two steals. Wesley recorded 19 points, five rebounds and two assists.

Flournoy tallied his first double-double of the season with 17 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Newbern scored eight points.

Rockhurst shot 37.5 percent (27-of-72) from the floor, 24.3 percent from the three-point line (9-of-37) and 78.6 percent (22-of-28) from the free-throw line.
