Tenth-ranked Hawks advance to GLVC semifinals

Mattia Petricca and Kaden Cripe scored goals to lead 10th-ranked Rockhurst to a 2-1 victory over Quincy in the quarterfinals of the GLVC Tournament Saturday night at Bourke Field.

Top-seeded Rockhurst, 12-3-3, will meet fifth-seeded Maryville in the GLVC Tournament semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 4:00 p.m. at the Creve Coeur Park Soccer Complex in St. Louis.

Petricca gave the Hawks an early 1-0 lead with his first goal of the season in the 20th minute. The junior defender flicked in a shot off a left cross from Blake Barrick.

Cripe connected on his eighth goal of the season in the 53rd minute to give Rockhurst a 2-0 lead. The senior midfielder headed in a shot from 10 yards off a pass from Barrick.

Rockhurst finished with eight shots (two on goal). The Hawks had six shots in the second half. Quincy posted nine shots (four on goal) and scored its goal in the 62nd minute.

Cripe and Immanuel Wayoro led the Hawks with two shots apiece. Stefano Camerlengo made two saves in the second half in posting his second shutout of the season.
