Rockhurst Athletics announces 2026 Hall of Fame Class

Rockhurst Athletics is proud to announce its 2026 Hall of Fame class. This year's individual inductees include Alex Brickner (Men's Basketball), Clarke Fry (Men's Golf), Mark Sappington (Baseball), Darrell Williams (Men's Soccer) and Taylor (Skala) Sares (Women's Soccer, Women's Basketball). In addition to its individual inductees, Rockhurst will also honor Ed McKee with a special honorary induction, and the 1999 College World Series baseball team with a team induction.

Hall of Fame Day is scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2026. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale on Monday, Dec. 1.

Hall of Fame Class of 2026

Alex Brickner - Men's Basketball (1989-1993)
  • Four-year starter for the men's basketball program
  • Holds program record for games played, games started, and total minutes
  • 11th in career scoring (1,148 points)
  • Two-time NAIA All-District
  • NAIA Honorable Mention All-American (1993)
Clarke Fry - Men's Golf (2009-2012)
  • Four-year member of the men's golf program
  • Holds program records for lowest season scoring average (73.43), career scoring (74.39), 18-hole score (65), 36-hole score (134), and 54-hole score (205)
  • NCAA Regional Qualifier (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012)
  • All-GLVC (2010, 2011, 2012)
  • GLVC Men's Golfer of the Year (2011)
  • First Rockhurst golfer to be inducted into Hall of Fame
Mark Sappington - Baseball (2009-2012)
  • Three-year pitcher for the Hawks with 19 career wins
  • Went 10-3 with a 1.78 ERA and 101 total strikeouts in 2012
  • First Team All-GLVC (2012)
  • NCAA Third Team All-American (2012)
  • Selected by Los Angeles Angels in fifth round of 2012 MLB Draft. Pitched for five seasons advancing as high as AAA.
Taylor (Skala) Sares - Women's Soccer & Women's Basketball (2011-2015)
  • Women's Soccer First Team All-GLVC (2011, 2012, 20214)
  • Women's Soccer GLVC Freshman of the Year (2011)
  • Women's Soccer GLVC Offensive Player of the Year (2014)
  • Women's Soccer Capital One Academic All-American, Third Team (2012), First Team (2014)
  • Women's Soccer NSCAA Third-Team All-American (2014)
  • Second all-time in Rockhurst program history for career points (108) and goals (48).
  • Held all-time program record for goals (48) through 2025.
  • Women's Basketball All-GLVC Defensive Team (2012, 2013, 2015)
  • GLVC Richard F. Scharf Paragon Award Winner (2014)
  • NCAA Woman of the Year Finalist (2015)
  • First Rockhurst athlete inducted into the GLVC Hall of Fame
Darrell Williams - Men's Soccer (1987-1990)
  • Four-year member of men's soccer program that started at defender, midfielder, and forward
  • Scored 42 total goals over two seasons as a forward
  • Moved to defender his senior season and was selected as Team MVP
  • Member of two NAIA Final Four teams (1989, 1990)
  • NAIA All-District (1989, 1990)
  • NAIA All-Tournament Team (1990)
  • NAIA First Team All-American (1990)
Ed McKee - Honorary Induction (Men's Basketball)
  • Four-year member of men's basketball program (1963-1967)
  • Drafted by Indiana Pacers in 1967
  • Provided volunteer alumni leadership for key athletic/university initiatives including 50 Year Celebration of the 1964 NAIA National Championship, Men's Basketball All-Century Celebration, and 1966 and 1967 Golden Hawk Reunions
  • Rockhurst University Xavier Medal of Honor Recipient (2017)
  • George Washington University Athletics Hall of Fame (2019)
  • Indiana State University Athletics Hall of Fame (2026)
  • Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame (2026)
1999 Baseball - Team Induction
  • Won 31 regular season games in the program's first year at the NCAA D-II level including victories over D-I opponents Vanderbilt and Southwest Missouri State
  • Qualified for NCAA Regionals and defeated nationally-ranked Pittsburg State and Central Missouri State to capture Central Region Championship to advance to the College World Series
  • Defeated No. 2 ranked North Alabama at the College World Series and finished season ranked No. 4 in NCAA DII.
