Second-half rally leads Hawks past Purdue Northwest

Jaylen Wesley and Drenin Dinkins each posted 21 points and six rebounds to lead Rockhurst to an 85-78 win over Purdue Northwest Saturday at the GLVC/GLIAC Challenge in Liberty, Missouri.

After trailing 43-35 with 3:11 left in the first half,, the Hawks used a 9-2 run to go into halftime down 45-44. Rockhurst took a late lead of 73-65 at the 4:27 mark before a 6-0 run by Purdue Northwest cut their lead to 73-71 with 3:17 left.

The Hawks pulled away by responding with a 6-2 run of their own to go up 79-73 with a 1:08 left.

Jaden Flournoy tallied 16 points and four rebounds. Peyton Newbern, Jack Scott and Massi Malterer combined for 19 points. Wesley also had five steals and three assists while making six-of-nine field goals.

Rockhurst shot 52.8 percent (28-of-53) from the floor and 35 percent (7-of-20) from the three-point line. The Hawks collected 26 rebounds.
