Hawks defeat Bearcats in straight sets

Delaney Hope tallied 13 kills and a .750 hitting percentage to lead Rockhurst to a 3-0 win over McKendree Friday night in Lebanon, Illinois.

The Hawks used a 7-0 run to close out the first set, 25-20. Rockhurst won the second set, 25-18 and captured the third set, 25-17.

Sarah Pyle posted her 17th double-double of the season with 12 kills and 12 digs. Katie Vargo led the team with 14 digs. Ali Olson collected nine kills.

Molly Trachta (22) and Mary Kate Mulvaney (20) combined for 45 assists. Chloe Tyrrell had a team-leading two service aces. Hope added a team-high four blocks.

Overall, Rockhurst had a .333 hitting percentage. The Hawks tallied 50 kills, 42 digs, 47 assists, five blocks and five service aces.

Rockhurst (20-8, 11-1 GLVC) faces Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday at 3 p.m. at UMSL. If the Hawks defeat the Tritons, they will earn a share of the GLVC regular-season title.
