A kill by Sarah Pyle capped a 4-1 run at the end of the fifth set to give Rockhurst a 3-2 victory over Findlay in the Midwest Region Crossover on Saturday afternoon in Hammond, Indiana. The Hawks (14-6) ended the Crossover with a 2-1 record.
The Hawks rallied from match point at 14-13 to win the final set, 17-15. Delaney Hope, Ali Olson and Pyle each had a kill in the late run.
Rockhurst won the first set, 25-21, and the fourth set, 25-23. Findlay won the second and third sets, 25-23 and 25-21.
Chloe Tyrrell (13), Pyle (12) and Avery DeLong (12) combined for 37 kills. Tyrrell matched her season-high in kills, while DeLong collected her season-high in kills. Pyle and Tyrrell also had 15 and 10 digs, respectively.
Freshman libero Katie Vargo paced the team with 19 digs. Molly Trachta (29) and Mary Kate Mulvaney (25) combined for 54 assists. Olson led the Hawks with six blocks, while Hope had a team-high three service aces.
The Hawks recorded a .302 hitting percentage. Rockhurst finished with 67 kills, 65 assists, 65 digs, 13 blocks, and seven service aces.
Rockhurst host Pittsburg State on Wednesday at Mason-Halpin Field House at 6 p.m.
