Hawks rally for 72-59 victory over Drury

Brian Hawthorne scored seven unanswered points midway into the second half to rally Rockhurst to a 72-59 victory over Drury Saturday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

Hawthorne made two fast-break layups off his own steals and drained a three-point shot to give the Hawks a 53-50 lead with 9:56 left to play.

Rockhurst closed the game on a 13-3 run to move their record to 10-3, which is their best record after 13 games since the 2001-02 season. The Hawks are tied for second place in the GLVC with a 4-1 league mark.

Hawthorne led the Hawks with 17 points on seven-of-16 shooting, in addition to posting eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. Jesse White finished with 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Daniel Carr collected his third double-double of the season with 12 points and a season-high 14 rebounds. Jaylen Wesley added 12 points, four rebounds and two steals.

Rockhurst shot 43.8 percent from the field (28-of-64) and 70.6 percent on free throws (12-of-17). The Hawks scored 49 points in the second half after trailing 32-23 at halftime.
