Balanced scoring leads Hawks to 84-67 win

Five Hawks scored in double figures to lead Rockhurst to an 84-67 victory over Southwest Baptist Friday night at Mason-Halpin Field House. The Hawks have now won five consecutive games and seven out of their last eight games.

Rockhurst (9-3, 3-1 GLVC) began the game on a 16-2 run. Southwest Baptist (6-5, 3-2 GLVC) answered with a 14-1 run over the final 4:15 of the first half, cutting the Hawks' lead to 37-31 at halftime.

A second 16-2 run by Rockhurst just before the middle of the second half put the Hawks up 59-38 at the 12:39 mark.

Brian Hawthorne led the way with 15 points, Nick Arensberg and Jaylen Wesley each scored 13 and Jesse White added 12 points. Daniel Carr also had 12 points and 10 rebounds, collecting his second double-double of the season.

The Hawks shot 51.8 percent (29-of-56) from the floor and 43.5 percent (10-of-23) from three-point range. Rockhurst also collected 29 rebounds.
