Balanced scoring leads Rockhurst to 76-65 win

Five players scored 12 or more points to lead Rockhurst to a 76-65 win over Truman State on Thursday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The win earned Rockhurst a season sweep of the Bulldogs, their first since the 2022-23 season. Rockhurst has also now won five straight against Truman State.

A Daniel Carr three to begin the second half gave Rockhurst its first lead of the game with 18:29 to go. Truman State tied the game at 37-all at the 18:03 mark before a 20-5 run put Rockhurst up 57-42 with 9:01 left in the game. 

After Truman State (11-8, 5-6 GLVC) cut the Rockhurst lead to 64-56 and had possession, a Jaylen Wesley 5-0 run extended the Hawks lead to 69-56 at the 2:08 mark.

Through much of the first half, the Bulldogs kept a lead ranging between four and nine points, taking a 33-24 lead with 3:15 left in the first half. Immediately following a Rockhurst time out, Rockhurst went on a 10-2 run to end the half down one (35-34).

Jesse White's 19 points led the Hawks. Daniel Carr recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds. 

Wesley scored 16 points and added two blocks, three steals and four rebounds. Brian Hawthorne and Jaden Flournoy each scored 12 points while Hawthorne notched eight rebounds, six assists and two steals. Flournoy added four rebounds and three assists.

The Hawks shot 43.1 percent (25-of-58) from the floor and 32.1 percent (9-of-28) from three. Rockhurst also collected 38 rebounds.
