Women's Volleyball falls to Winona State, 3-2

The Rockhurst women's volleyball team fell to Winona State on Friday afternoon at Mason-Halpin Field House by a score of 3-2 in the Kansas City Classic.

A 7-0 run by the Hawks propelled them to a 25-20 victory in the first set. The Hawks lost the second set, 25-19. During the third set, the Hawks used a 5-0 run to extend their lead to 15-6. Winona State would close the lead to 24-21, but the Hawks scored the last point of the set to win, 25-21.


Winona State won the fourth set, 25-22, and the fifth set, 15-10.


Friday's match saw a couple of milestones. Tera Reberry became the 10th Hawk to record her 1,000th kill, as she led the team with 19 kills. Maureen Reilly led the Hawks with 34 digs, passing Sarah Schwandt for third in program history with 2,115 career digs. With two more digs, she passes Victoria Mahl for second in program history.

Sarah Montague had 27 assists to lead the team and Molly Trachta added 21 assists, 16 digs and three service aces. Kenzie Hines had 17 digs and 11 kills. Alyssa McDonald added 12 kills.


The Hawks face Sioux Falls next on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mason-Halpin Field House to wrap up the Kansas City Classic.
