Belardo leads Hawks to 2-2 tie at Springfield

Jacopo Belardo scored his second goal of the game in the 84th minute to give Rockhurst a 2-2 tie against Illinois Springfield on Sunday in Springfield, Illinois.

Belardo's game-tying goal was a double header off a corner kick. Rhys Laws sailed his corner kick past the goal to Caden Pfeil, who headed the ball to Belardo near the goal. Belardo then headed the ball into the net from five yards out.

The Hawks tied the score at 1-1 in the 30th minute on Belardo's first goal. Belardo passed the ball to Sam McIntosh, who gave it back to Belardo for a shot into the center of the net from 10 yards out.

Rockhurst finished with 10 shots and seven shots on goals. Belardo led the Hawks with three shots on goal. Franco Brunoro posted four saves.

Springfield (3-2-2, 3-0-2 GLVC) scored in the 23rd and 61st minutes. The Prairie Stars collected 12 shots.

Rockhurst (0-6-1, 0-4-1 GLVC) returns home to plays Upper Iowa at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
