Penalty kick carries UMSL to 3-1 win over Hawks

Missouri-St. Louis scored two short-handed goals in the second half to leave Bourke Field with a 3-1 victory over Rockhurst in men's soccer action Sunday.

The Tritons (3-2-1, 1-1-1 GLVC) took a 2-1 lead on a penalty kick in the 66th minute and scored an insurance goal five minutes later on a 25-yard shot.

Rockhurst took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute on a 45-yard free kick by Asier Olano. UMSL tied the score early in the second half on a shot from the top of the box.

The Hawks (0-5, 0-3 GLVC) finished with 12 shots and seven shots on goals. Olano led Rockhurst with four shots and three shots on goal. Cristoforo LiCavoli and Rhys Laws each posted two shots. RU keeper Franco Brunoro collected four saves.
