Hawks drop GLVC opener to McKendree

McKendree scored two goals in the first half and added three man-up goals in the second half in posting a 5-1 victory over Rockhurst in a conference opener Sunday at Bourke Field.

The 17th-ranked Bearcats (4-0) scored two goals in the first 21 minutes of the game. McKendree tallied three goals in a 13-minute span in the second half after Rockhurst's Kaden Cripe received a red card in the 57th minute.

The Hawks found the nets in the 55th minute. Cristoforo LiCavoli Mitchell drilled a shot from 18 yards out off a pass from Sam McIntosh.
Rockhurst (0-3) finished with 11 shots and two shots on goals. LiCavoli, McIntosh and Jacopo Belardo each tallied two shots to lead the Hawks. RU keeper Franco Brunoro made three saves.
