Men to meet McKendree in conference opener

The Rockhurst men's soccer team opens conference play at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bourke Field against the 17th-ranked McKendree Bearcats.

Tony Tocco's Hawks are looking to break into the win column for the first time after dropping a pair of 2-1 games to Fort Hays State on the road and Webster at home.

Junior defender Asier Olano leads the Hawks with three points while posting six shots. Junior forward Blake Barrick has collected a team-high eight shots.

McKendree has won its first three games while outscoring its opponents, 8-2. Senior midfielder Philipp Schmidt leads the Bearcats with two goals and two assists.

Rockhurst leads the all-time series with McKendree by a 7-4-1 margin. The Bearcats shut out the Hawks, 1-0, last year in Kansas City.
