Women capture team title in Kansas event

The Rockhurst women's golf team captured first place at the Sand Creek Intercollegiate at the Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kansas, on Wednesday.

The Hawks finished with a 54-hole score of 932 (301-315-316) in their first tournament of the fall season. Rockhurst broke the school record with an 18-hole score of 301 in the first round on Tuesday.

Senior Grace Claney won medalist honors with a 225 score. She shot 73 and 75 on the first day and 77 in the final round on Wednesday.

Junior Jayden Berrey tied for third with a 232 score and senior transfer Caroline Giocondo finished sixth at 233. Sarah Biscan and Celia Stiltner tied for 10th at 242.

The Hawks return to action on Sept. 23-24 at the KC Cup in Smithville, Missouri.
