Hawks score 15 runs in sweeping Truman State

The Rockhurst baseball team combined for 15 runs and 22 hits in sweeping a doubleheader against Truman State, 12-4 and 3-0, Saturday at Loyola Park.

In the first game, the Hawks scored four runs in the second inning to take a 6-0 lead. Rockhurst tallied six runs over their next two at-bats.

Andrew Loeffelman led the Hawks with three hits and three RBIs. He hit a two-run home run in the first and added an RBI single in the fourth.

Adonis Forte drove in two runs with three hits. Michael Laudando and Peyton Clerk each collected two hits. Matthew Brimacombe added three RBIs.

Laudando (5-2) held Truman hitless for 6.2 innings. He struck out five and allowed five hits.

Jackson Dearing (2-1) pitched a three-hit shutout in the second game with nine strikeouts.

Dakota Hanna hit a fastball over the left-field fence in the fifth inning to give the Hawks a three-run lead. Brimacombe stole home in the first inning.

The Hawks (19-12, 11-8 GLVC) have now won six in a row going into Sunday's series finale with Truman State.
