Hawks blank Truman State in series opener

The Rockhurst baseball team shut down Truman State on five hits to open the weekend with a 3-0 victory over the Bulldogs Friday night at Loyola Park.

Gavyn Dockery (2-3) held Truman to five hits over seven innings with one walk and six strikeouts. Freshman Ryan Joyner retired all six hitters he faced to pick up his first save.

The Hawks scored an unearned run in the fourth and added single tallies in the fifth and sixth innings.

Andrew Loeffelman collected two hits with an RBI single. Adonis Forte posted two hits and one stolen base. Michael Laudando added two hits to the nine-hit attack.

The Hawks (17-12, 9-8 GLVC) play a doubleheader against Truman State on Saturday.
