Brimacombe leads Hawks to 9-8 win over Miners

Matthew Brimacombe collected four hits and scored three runs to lead Rockhurst to a 9-8 victory over Missouri S&T in the second game of a GLVC doubleheader Saturday in Rolla, Missouri.

Brimacombe keyed a four-run second inning with an RBI single. Michael Laudando added an RBI single in the second. Adonis Forte gave the Hawks a 9-1 lead with a two-run double in the third.

Gavyn Dockery (3-3) allowed five runs on five hits with three strikeouts in 5.0 innings. Jake Canent got the last three outs to collect his sixth save of the season.

In Saturday's opener, the Miners scored on a sacrifice fly in the eighth to edge Rockhurst, 2-1. Patrick Wind posted two of the Hawks' three hits.

S&T won the final game of the series on Sunday in extra innings. The Miners scored seven runs in the bottom of the 10th to post an 11-8 victory. Forte and Brandon Hebrank combined for five hits and four RBIs.

The Hawks (25-20, 16-15 GLVC) close out the regular season at home against William Jewell beginning on Thursday night.
