The Rockhurst baseball team combined for 17 runs and 26 hits to sweep Indianapolis, 12-4 and 5-4, in a conference doubleheader Friday in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Andrew Loeffelman, Adonis Forte and Patrick Wind combined for 10 hits and seven RBIs to lead the Hawks in the first game. Matthew Brimacombe and Peyton Clerk each had two hits.
The Hawks scored four runs in the third and six runs in the fourth to take a 10-2 lead. Michael Laudando (4-2) held UIndy to four runs on six hits over 7.0 innings.
In Game Two, Rockhurst rallied from a 3-1 deficit to complete the sweep. Brandon Hebrank gave the Hawks a 4-3 lead with an RBI single in the fourth. Cole Wagner added an RBI single in the fifth.
Brimacombe led the Hawks with three hits. Hebrank and Laudando both posted two hits.
Jake Canent allowed one run on four hits over the final 3.1 innings to collect his sixth win of the season.
On Thursday, Indianapolis took advantage of 13 walks to post a 21-4 win over the Hawks. The Greyhounds scored 11 runs on seven walks and two hits in the fifth.
Loeffelman and Laudando each had two hits. Loeffelman hit a two-run home run in the fifth and Laudando cleared the fences in the fourth.
The Hawks (15-12, 7-8 GLVC) close out the series with one game on Sunday.
