The Rockhurst baseball team combined for 16 runs and 17 hits to sweep Quincy, 5-1 and 11-7, in a conference Saturday in Quincy, Illinois.
Michael Laudando held Quincy to one run on five hits and struck out seven in the first game. Michael Novak drove in two runs with a single in the fifth and Andrew Loeffelman added a two-run single in the seventh. Laudando added an RBI groundout in the seventh.
The Hawks rallied from a 7-3 deficit to win the second game. Adonis Forte hit a grand slam in the fourth and Dakota Hanna added a two-run double in the fifth.
Hanna led the Hawks with three hits. Patrick Wind drove in four runs with a three-run homer in the second and a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Ryan Joyner collected his first career win and Jake Canent pitched the final 4.0 innings to pick up his fourth save of the season.
On Friday, Quincy held off a late rally by Rockhurst to win the opening game of the series, 10-9. Rockhurst scored six runs in the eighth and added a run in the ninth to pull within one run.
Loeffelman led Rockhurst with three hits and three RBIs. He homered in the fourth, had an RBI double in the eighth and added a run-scoring single in the ninth.
Rockhurst closed out the series with a 14-2 loss at Quincy on Sunday. Laudando collected two hits and Wind had an RBI double.
The Hawks (13-10, 5-7 GLVC) begin a four-game series at Indianapolis on Thursday.
