The Rockhurst baseball team ended the weekend with a 16-6 victory over 17th-ranked Illinois Springfield to gain a split of a four-game series Sunday at Loyola Park.

The Hawks wrapped up Sunday's win by scoring eight runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Rockhurst took a 2-0 lead in the first, scored three runs in the third to take a 5-1 lead, and plated three runs in the fifth to grab an 8-5 lead.

Brandon Hebrank led the Hawks with three hits with a run-scoring single in the seventh. Drew Cornelison drove in three runs with a solo home run in the third and a two-run single in the seventh.

Dakota Hanna and Avery Garmon each collected two hits and two RBIs. Adonis Forte and Michael Laudando combined for four hits and two RBIs.

Jake Canent (5-1) held the Prairie Stars to one run on four hits over the final 3.2 innings.

The Hawks (10-5, 2-2 GLVC) host Upper Iowa on Friday night.
