Hawks open season with pair of victories

The Rockhurst baseball team opened the 2024 season with a pair of victories over Christian Brothers College, 10-6 and 8-5, at the USA Stadium in Millington, Tennessee.

In Game One, the Hawks jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the third inning. Matthew Brimacombe singled home two runs to cap a four-run third inning.
Cole Wagner posted two hits and two RBIs. Andrew Loeffelman collected two hits with an RBI double. Jake Canent held CBC scoreless on two hits over 4.1 innings to get the win.

Adonis Forte hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning give the Hawks a 7-5 lead in Game Two. The Hawks scored seven runs in the sixth to rally from a 5-1 deficit.

Forte led the Hawks with three hits. Drew Cornelison and Wagner added two hits apiece. Gavyn Dockery pitched 4.2 scoreless innings to get the win.

The two teams wrap up their three-game series at 10 a.m. Saturday.
