Hawks split four-game series with Parkside

The Rockhurst baseball team opened their home schedule with a split of a four-game series with Parkside. The Hawks posted a 5-3 win over the Rangers on Monday and rallied for an 8-7 win in the series opener on Sunday. Parkside won the nightcap both days, 7-1 and 7-2.

Game One: Rockhurst 8, Parkside 7 (8 innings)

The Hawks scored three runs in the seventh to force extra innings and won the game with a walk-off single in the eighth.

  • Drew Cornelison singled up the middle to drive in the winning run in the eighth.
  • Adonis Forte went 3-for-5 and hit a game-tying double in the eighth.
  • Dakota Hanna and Cornelison each collected two hits and two RBIs.

Game Three: Rockhurst 5, Parkside 3

The Hawks scored three runs in the first inning and added single runs in the second and fifth. Rockhurst finished with nine singles and two doubles.

The Hawks (4-2) are back in action this weekend at home against Bemidji State.
