Offense powers Hawks to 17-9 victory

Rockhurst scored nine runs in the eighth inning to rally for a 17-9 victory over Bemidji State Sunday afternoon at Loyola Park.

Andrew Loeffelman and Peyton Clerk keyed the big inning with two-run triples. Adonis Forte and Drew Cornelison added run-scoring singles in the eighth.

Cornelison led the 16-hit attack with three hits. Dakota Hanna, Cole Wagner, Forte and Loeffelman each posted two hits.

Avery Garmon smashed a two-run home run in the second. Wagner collected a two-run triple in the third. Hanna drove in two runs with a double and stole home in the sixth.

Jake Canent pitched a scoreless eighth inning to pick up his fourth win of the season. Gavyn Dockery held Bemidji to one run on three runs with six strikeouts over 4.0 innings.
