Hawks open weekend with 17-2 victory

Rockhurst exploded for 20 hits in posting a 17-2 victory over Bemidji State Friday afternoon at Loyola Park.

Andrew Loeffelman led the Hawks with four hits and three runs scored. Adonis Forte went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Drew Cornelison, Dakota Hanna, Avery Garmon and Patrick Wind each collected two hits.

Cornelison hit a two-run home run to right field in the third and an RBI double in the first. Garmon drove in three runs, while Hanna and Wind posted run-scoring doubles.

Matthew Brimacombe and Michael Novak added two-run triples in the third and fifth innings.

Michael Laudando (1-0) picked up the win, allowing one run on three hits over three innings.

The Hawks (5-2) play a noon doubleheader on Saturday against Bemidji State.
