Lewis holds off Hawks in posting 86-80 win

Lewis held off a late Rockhurst rally by hitting a 3-pointer with 18 seconds left to secure an 86-80 victory over Rockhurst Thursday night in Romeoville, Illinois.

The Flyers ended the game on a 21-15 run after Rockhurst tied the score at 65-all on a layup by Miles White at the 6:58 mark.

White paced the Hawks with 23 points on eight-of-13 shooting. White scored 15 points and made four of his six 3-pointers in the second half.

Timaris Brown posted 17 points and five rebounds. Jake Auer (16) and Rron Thaci (11) came off the bench to score in double figures.

Lewis shot 50.9 percent from the field while scoring 28 points in the paint. Beau Frericks led the Flyers (14-11, 10-7 GLVC) with 21 points and seven rebounds.

Rockhurst shot 43.9 percent from the field (29-of-66) and made 12-of-36 three-pointers. The Flyers made 28-of-55 field goals and connected on 12-of-30 three-pointers.
