Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Keiner headlines eight returning players

The Rockhurst men's tennis team broke into the win column for the first time this spring with a 6-1 win over Emporia State on Saturday in North Kansas City, Missouri.

The Hawks opened the spring season with narrow losses to Colorado Mesa (4-3) and Nebraska-Kearney (4-2).

Junior Louis Keiner, who was named to the All-GLVC Team last year, headlines eight returnees for the Hawks. The other players who are back include Semyon Tsyrenov, Agustin Cortes, Joe Harris, Cris Cequea-Rivero, Andres Sahagun, Josef Truhlar and Iago Alcover.

Keiner has won his first three singles matches this spring after posting a 9-9 record last year. Tsyrenov and Cortes have combined for a 2-3 record in singles this month.
Freshman Diego Schtulmann is off to a 3-0 start in No. 6 singles. Freshman Alex Tikhonov and senior transfer Gustavo Gill are playing No. 3 and 4 singles.

The Hawks (2-2) host William Woods at Northland Racquet Club on Saturday, Feb. 24.
