Hawks face Lewis in NCAA Regional tonight

Rockhurst is returning to the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championships for the 17th time since 1998. The Hawks, 21-7, will face the Lewis Flyers, 22-10, in an NCAA Division II Midwest Regional first-round match Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Bulldog Arena in Big Rapids, Michigan. The Midwest Regional winner will advance to the D-II national quarterfinals, Dec. 12-14, in Sioux Falls, S.D.

RU vs. LEWIS: Rockhurst and Lewis will be meeting for the third time this season. Lewis won the first two meetings, 3-2, at Lewis, on Oct. 4 and 3-1, at the GLVC Tournament on Nov. 24. Lewis owns a 20-12 lead in the all-time series.

NCAA PLAYOFF HISTORY: The Hawks have a 23-16 record in 16 previous appearances in the NCAA Tournament and are returning to the NCAA Championships for the 10th consecutive time. Rockhurst has reached the regional finals 10 times. The Hawks defeated Ferris State in the 2015 regional finals, got past Lewis in the regional finals in 2017, and swept Hillsdale in the 2019 regional finals. Rockhurst also reached the regional finals in 1998, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2014 and 2018.

2024 RU ROSTER: Rockhurst's 2024 NCAA roster includes four graduate students, one senior, four juniors, four sophomores and five freshmen representing six different states. Sixteen members of the team are from Kansas (6), Missouri (5), Nebraska (3) and Iowa (2).

TEAM LEADERS: Tera Reberry leads the team with 306 kills and has collected 1,360 career kills. Ali Olson is the team leader in blocks with 90 and has 213 career blocks. Maureen Reilly has posted a team-high 608 digs and has amassed 2,675 career digs. Sarah Montague tops the team with 662 assists and has posted 2,909 career assists.

GLVC STAT LEADERS: Maureen Reilly ranks second in digs (5.63 per set) and third in service aces (0.42 per set). Tera Reberry stands fourth in hitting percentage (.307). Sarah Montague is ninth in assists (6.13 per set). Sarah Pyle stands second in service aces (0.43 per set).

ALL-REGION HONORS: Graduate student libero Maureen Reilly and graduate student right side hitter Tera Reberry earned First Team AVCA All-Midwest Region honors. Reilly was also named to the D2CCA All-Region first team.

ALL-GLVC HONORS: Four Rockhurst players received All-Conference honors from the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Graduate student libero Maureen Reilly and graduate student right side hitter Tera Reberry earned First Team honors. Senior setter Sarah Montague, junior outside hitter Sarah Pyle and sophomore middle hitter Ali Olson garnered Second Team accolades.

HEAD COACH: Trent Jones has guided the Hawks to a 95-42 record in his first five seasons at Rockhurst. Jones previously spent nine seasons as the associate head coach at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Jones also was the head coach at the University of Missouri-St. Louis from 2008-10. The Tritons posted a 64-28 overall record and a 35-10 conference mark under Jones.
