Hawthorne leads Hawks to road win at Emporia State

Brian Hawthorne posted 22 points, nine rebounds and eight assists to lead the Rockhurst men to an 87-84 victory at Emporia State Friday night.

Daniel Carr canned a three-pointer with 11 seconds left to give the Hawks an 84-81 lead. Jaylen Wesley and Hawthorne made three free throws in the final six seconds to ice the win.

The Hawks moved their season record to 8-3, which is their best record after 11 games since the 2001-02 season.

Jesse White scored 20 points on six-of-10 shooting, highlighted by five 3-pointers. Carr finished with 17 points, five rebounds and three assists. Wesley posted 12 points and eight rebounds. Jaden Flournoy added 10 points and four rebounds.

Rockhurst shot 55.4 percent from the field (31-of-56) and 47.6 percent on 3-point field goals (10-of-21). The Hawks scored 55 points in the second half, shooting 20-of-32 from the field (62.5 percent).
